2008 NASBLA Directory

2008directorycoversm The 2008 NASBLA Directory is now available.  The new directory is the most comprehensive catalog of recreational boating safety (RBS) professionals and organizations in the United States.  Included in the directory are state-by-state listings of boating law administrators (BLAs), education coordinators, law enforcement officials and others involved in the RBS field.  Additionally you'll find NASBLA associate members, committee contacts, U.S. Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety contacts, a 2008 RBS calendar and more.  You can download the document in PDF (6mb).

2008 Annual Conference

Conferencepostcardmini_2 The NASBLA Annual Conference will be held September 6-10, 2008 in Clearwater Beach, Florida.  The conference hotel is the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort.  Located on 10 beautiful acres of white sandy beach, the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort overlooks the picturesque Gulf of Mexico.  You can make hotel reservations online or call 727.461.3222.  Be sure to mention group code NAS8GA to receive the conference rate of $149 per night, plus tax. *BLAs, please call the NASBLA office to make your hotel reservation.  Additional information on the conference program will be posted soon.

Policy Committee Charges Available

Committeechargesmembers2 NASBLA policy committee charges are now available (Download full set of committee charges).  Under a new committee organization model presented at the annual conference in Burlington, NASBLA's primary policy committees include: Education and Outreach, Enforcement and Training, Vessel Identification, Registration and Titling, Engineering, Reporting and Analysis and Governmental Affairs and Administration.

Staged Collisions Featured in BoatU.S. Magazine

Boatus_1107_2 BoatU.S. Magazine recently did an article on the NASBLA Staged Collisions project.  The article is a summary of what NASBLA and on-the-water law enforcement officials are doing to learn more about collision dynamics and forensics, written for the recreational boating audience.  (Download the article in pdf.)
